September is back to school!
Some parents are rejoicing that it's back to school time. Some parents are crying. Some students are scared of the newness and some are embracing it. Whatever your situation, one thing is certain and that is that it brings a change in routine and this is often a source of stress and anxiety. We encourage you to look for different ways to help reduce or manage the stress. Some ways to reduce the stress might be to make lists of things that need to be done and by whom; stick to a routine in the morning to reduce the chaos; and set realistic expectations for yourself and your student. It is impossible to avoid stress altogether but when it sets in it can be managed by getting the appropriate amount of sleep, staying well hydrated, maintain good nutrition, scheduling down time, deep breathing as well as listening to relaxing music. Pain Awareness Month
The American Chronic Pain Association has declared September as "Pain Awareness Month". Now, you’re probably thinking that if you are in chronic pain, you are aware of it EVERY month and not just in September. Pain Awareness Month is meant to raise awareness of some of the conditions that cause chronic pain, as well as pain management options available and resources for support groups and clinical trials. We urge you to visit the American Chronic Pain Association web site if you or someone you love is in chronic pain.
