What can I expect on my first visit?

You’ll be asked to fill out an Intake Form. This is where you record any injuries, health history and other physical conditions we should know about -- all of which is confidential. We recommend printing these forms from our website and filling out prior to your appointment; otherwise please arrive 15 minutes early so you may complete the forms without feeling rushed.

Communication is key throughout your session. If this is your first massage, tell the therapist, who will answer any questions you have and walk you through the process so you feel comfortable.

Your therapist will then leave the room while you disrobe to your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to completely disrobe, while others remain partially clothed.

Once disrobed, you'll lie on the massage table under the draping. Your therapist will knock before entering the room.

During your session, your therapist will uncover only that part of the body being worked on. Remember, this is YOUR massage. The face cradle can be adjusted and table heated. Should you experience pain or discomfort when working a particularly tight area, it is EXTREMELY important to tell us. Your therapist is a professional. She or he can adapt, using different techniques to relax stubborn muscles. During future visits, your therapist will ask about any changes, further tailoring your massage experience.

Is it safe to use a muscle relaxant before getting a massage?

Unless your physician has recommended something, it's best not to be impaired in any way when receiving a massage.

Is it better to get a massage before or after my workout?

After is generally better to speed healing your body may need and to prepare for your next workout.  Plus, it is a wonderful way to relax and reward yourself for all the hard, healthy work you just did.

If I am not feeling well the day of my appointment should I reschedule?

Please call to reschedule your appointment. You should not receive a massage while you are sick or feeling like you are “coming down with something.”  You should not get a massage if you have a fever, nausea, a cold or the flu, or any contagious illness.

 Do You Take Insurance?

It’s best to ask your insurance administrator or the insurance company to determine if your massage is covered.  Although we do not submit for payment, we can supply you with a receipt that most insurance companies will accept for your reimbursement.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

Please call as soon as you know you are unable to come in.  Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are subject to billing.  If you are going to be late, we will try to accommodate you within your scheduled time at the regular fee.

Should I tip?

As with many services, it's never required but always welcome. Tipping 10% to 20% or more of the pre-discounted price is usually the range.  Our charge card machine allows you to write in the tip on your charge slip.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Rarely.  Occasionally we may get a last-minute gap in our schedule and you are welcome to call us for availability.

How often should I receive a massage?

For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one or two massages a month is common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage for injury relief or to relieve chronic conditions that are interfering with your daily life. There are many people who incorporate massage therapy at least twice a month for optimal therapeutic relief.

I have benefited from therapeutic massage from you for many years now. Of the many things I appreciate about getting a massage from you is your ability to listen carefully to my description of what I feel needs attention and at the same time use the tools of your training and experience to figure out exactly needs to be done. - Dawn
